I just returned from a recent trip visiting the Café Selvanica farmers. I encountered many blessings while I was there and I thought many would like to hear a few.
As a direct result of the June 2001 Cafè Selvanica purchase:
Senora Rojas was able to get the needed medicine for a cyst in her stomach.
Tanya, 10 years old, received the bicycle her dad had promised last year.
Senora Varagay received her first gas stove, and no longer has to search for fire wood to cook meals.
Jesus Rojas daughter will enter secondary school in June. She was supposed to enter this year, but the family didn't have the money.
Benjamin Anaya, who lost his leg a few years ago, was able to pay workers to plant 5 new Hectares of coffee plants, and he opened a corner store to supplement his income.
Not one sack of coffee was sold on the local market, because the farmers had money from the June purchase to pay for monthly expenses!
I must say I'm filled with joy to see that this Three Trade relationship is doing what it is designed to, to help farmers have a livable income as they produce quality coffee. On the behalf of the farmers I was asked to give the roasters words of gratitude. Thank you from the farmers of Café Selvanica. Your investment in our community is making a world of difference. We appreciate your support and take pride in preparing the best coffee we can for you.
I also must pass along an idea in the works. The farmers are thinking of having their first annual coffee harvest festival next June and are thinking they would like to invite the roasting companies and consumers to come to their village for the celebration.
This next week marks the third time in our history that we will purchase coffee from the Café Selvanica farmers. Thank you to all who have supported us along the way and have helped make this dream become reality.
In search for the Best coffee Perú has to offer from Moyobamba, Perú.
